If you want the instructions for this, please shoot me an e-mail and I'll send them to you. I picked up 2mpg with this and it cost me $68 including a K&N E-1009 filter.

During this last winter the intake began to howl at undefined throttle positions during days below freezing. I attributed it to the seal leaking from hardening of the rubber. This later turned out to be wrong. The answer was, of course, clean the filter. Has anyone used the foam prefilter to keep the dirt out of the filter?

I have an Outerwears brand of pre filter. Outerwears.com. I have not installed my CAI yet, waiting for my cowl hood to get painted. Engine bay will probably get all dirty.

I have the AirAid set up and I have the prefilter on mine. Its not foam. I think it helps alot. I got mine for the simple fact of all the mud my truck sees.

They are on the way. Let me know if you can figure out a way to prevent it from sucking water when it gets up to the grill.

I have the pre-filter on mine, makes a huge difference in cleaning intervals. I used to clean my K&N twice a year, my AFE has been on for 2 years with the pre-filter and I have cleaned it once. Recently opened the pre-filter to look at it, and it's barely dirty.

That can happen. The aftermarket and stock ones have areas that they say stop the water from getting into the TB.

If you really use that front axle and want to traverse a stream, deep puddle, or live in a place that can dump several inches of rain in an hour, you are going to suck in water

I figure if the water gets higher than my winch, then I have problems, and not just with the intake, but also with my carpet, my computer, and my feet.
